Evidence!!

I really didn't think that a squirrel would be able to eat out of our new bird feeder. But as you can see, he is enjoying a nice snack. The feeder is now empty.

After

Here is a shot of the patio after Jon got finished with it. We painted the fence as well. We're going to build a small deck and plant grass too.

Before

Here is a shot of our backyard before. You can see my pitiful attempt at gardening there on the table.

The Deck is No More!

Jon has been hard at work tearing the old deck off the back of the house. We're going to build a smaller deck and have a nice patio area too.

Eight Belles euthanized :(

My longshot filly favourite, Eight Belles, came second in the Kentucky Derby. But after the race ended, she collapsed onto the ground having broken both her front ankles. This is an injury that a horse cannot recovery from, so she was immediately euthanized by the head vet at Churchill Downs :( The favourite Big Brown won in an awesome show, he could be the next super horse. My pick Pyro got bumped to the back, not even sure where he finished.

My Pick for the Win!

Here is my Kentucky Derby pick, Pyro. He's my choice to win the run for the roses this Saturday.

The Sure Bet

This is Colonel John, I think he could win the Derby, and if not, be near the front. He's been great in his last starts. Good, but not my pic :)

The Favourite

Here's the odds leader, Big Brown. He's the favourite to win the Derby, but this will only be his 4th race of his life, though he was impressive in his other 3 starts. He goes from post position #20 though, so he's got a long way to run to pull out the win. I expect him to finish near the front.

My pick for the Upset

Here's my pick for the longshot upset! She is the lone filly running in the Derby, her name is Eight Belles. She may not even run though, her trainer is thinking of running her Friday night in the Oaks (the chic version of the Derby)...currently she is entered in both races so we have to wait and see!
Not sure she has a real chance, as the Derby has only ever been won by girls 3 times, last time in '88. I have to give a shout out for the ladies though!
