Speak Greek?

So we are on the Greek yogurt bandwagon. If you haven't heard of greek yogurt, be sure to check it out. It's basically strained yogurt. Find 0% and you've got the perfect food full of protein with no fat, carbs or sugar. It's thick and tastes like sour cream though, so ease into it. We use it instead of sour cream for nachos (and we trick friends and family too). Awesome as you can eat as much as you want, guilt free. Delicious with berries in the morning. Plus you'll look like a health-nut eating it.

BUT it's pricey. Expect to pay double for this "in" food. So in light of this, I decided to make my own by straining plain 0% yogurt through cheese cloth. I suggest leaving it overnight or longer. The result: okay. Not as thick as greek... And you lose a lot in the process. But you do save some $. Not sure if it's worth it as Jon and I eat it by the boatload.

How To: place cheesecloth over a bowl, hold with elastic. Scoop yogurt onto the cloth (let it sag into the bowl some). Cover with plastic wrap (secure with another elastic if you need to). Place in fridge until strained. 10-24 hrs.
